70 Week Prophecy. What is it and how do we understand it?
First we must locate the verse in question and find out what is it talking about.
Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
Remember, Google/Bing etc are your friends right now if you choose for them to be. Tho they are censoring accordingly, they are still good to use depending on what you’re looking for. We have internet access and have no reason to not simply “Try” to investigate and find out whether or not our personal beliefs taught to us by some Preist/Pastor is correct or incorrect.
So many pictures and links, how do I know which one is correct interpretation?
This one looks like the Rapture Doctrine, but isn’t Rapture incorrect Doctrine?
We must investigate the topic which we are learning about, and so we must figure out who has “Final Authority” correct? Does a mere man have “Final Authority”? Does Bible have “Final Authority”?
So lets go to the Bible and find out what the Bible says ok?
Daniel 9:24-27 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
So what is being said in these verses in Daniel 9 ?
Daniel 9:24 says there are 70 weeks. In prophecy time, how long is a day? A week?
Numbers 14:34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.
Ezekiel 4:6 And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.
70 weeks X 7 days per week = 490 days.
This prophecy starts before Daniel's vision and ends when Messiah comes.
Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
A score is 20 years, so 3 score equals 60 years. 69 weeks until Messiah, and that leaves 1 week left according to verse :25.
So when was the commandment to restore?
Jeremiah and Ezra talk about this thing for the captives to go and rebuild Jerusalem the city and the Temple and establish themselves. Daniel was alive during the time of Jeremiah, probably a boy at the time as Daniel lived thru many kings in his days on Earth and was reading from Jeremiah's scrolls: Daniel 9:2 for example: In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

So with this to consider as to when it started, we can see where it is going and when it ends. But is this picture correct? The last week of the 70 has to be in line with Jesus the Messiah, for Daniel's 70 week prophecy talks about the ending of the daily sacrifices and how the Messiah is to be cut off in the midst/middle of the last week.
This picture I agree with because it aligns with what I read and with the Messiah.
According to the picture we have 7 weeks, and 62 weeks until coming of the ministry of the Messiah. Not His birth day but His ministry when Jesus started preaching, when Jesus was baptized, then we have that last week where Jesus only preached for half of it until His death.
In summary:
The 70 week prophecy starts with rebuilding of Jerusalem with Ezra and Nehemiah, and ends with death of Jesus in midst of week and ending of daily sacrifices with the stoning of Stephen.
Rapture Doctrine destroyed?
Rapture Doctrine is founded on Daniel is it not? And to understand that this week cannot be placed anywhere but at the end of the 70 and cannot be placed anywhere else. The 70 weeks is inside the 2300 year prophecy as there is much more to investigate than just the 70 weeks.
